This morning I woke up from a dream just as the bells chimed seven. It was one of those dreams that tinge the whole day and subtly set the mood, like a trace of a scent or a memory of a tune. Do you ever have those? This one felt so sweet and mellow.
Here's a sweet little brooch in warm, mellow tones. A little touch of colour that can soften and light up a neutral day or outfit. It's made from silk dyed with plants, pleated and smocked with added matte glass beads.
The design is my take on the penannular brooch. To fasten: push the pin through fabric and moving it side-to-side guide it up between the ends of the oval until it rests on top of it. The ends have raised edges which makes it quite secure. I made the pin slightly rounded so it's more suitable for knits and looser-weave fabric (I've pinned it to a T-shirt with success too).
All metal is antiqued sterling silver.
Size: the fabric part is 4 cm (1 3/4 inches) wide and the whole brooch to the tip of the pin is 4.5 cm (1 3/4 inches) long.
As with all textiles, storing the brooch out of direct sunlight is recommended to keep it at its best.
